“make a social issue you care about public.” the issue can be as personal or political as you want and you can either leave your real name or make one up if the issue is somewhat private (you can even make up the issue if you want). so what bees are in your bonnet? what’s chapping your hide that everyone else seems to be ignoring. get it?
i will take your issues and make some art around them. some examples: global warming, dangerous plastic additives, your dad molests chickens, etc.

How about the gorilla in every room: social class?

The television as babysitter. Developing minds need human interaction not interaction with a plasma screen.
The lack of public support for the arts in our daily lives. Arts education is losing support every year. Our schools have fewer music, dance, theater, and fine art teachers and classes than we have had in the past. Non-profit arts organizations are closing or unable to adequately get started due to the lack of funding and support. This is an issue with our collective values.
The average amount Hollywood spends to make a movie compared to other things that same money could buy. Such as salaries for cops, teachers, and nurses or school supplies or food or college tuition.

i was just reading that there is this “humanoid” robot that is going to conduct a symphony, this, coupled with the fairly recent development of making robots that can climb stairs, has me very worried that we are creating our robot masters of the future…

If robots & machines are here to make our lives easier, why do we still have to work so hard? And if they are in fact making our lives easier, is that leading to a lazier society that expects more to be done for it without effort?

One word: “consumer”. When did that become the catch-all phrase for American citizen? Of course, we all consume things…food, durable goods like clothing, household items. But sometime in the past two decades, that’s become the word of choice to describe you, me, all of us.
I’m not just a consumer. Are you?

webs of bondage and debt assuaged by soothing religion or as I like to call it, the giant god-fuck-machine. the mechanization of man’s interaction with man or plastic monkey howls assuring ourselves that we are here.
that or privatized prisons complete with slave industry.

What the hell is going on with our food chain in this country? Why is everything we eat made of corn or corn fed and why did everything become processed? Part 2: if our entire food chain is made from corn, why did anyone think biofuel was such a great idea?

I agree about computers and machines. And the employer-barons that inflict them upon me 40+ hours per week. We need new habits and fresh customs that allow us to work with modern hardware so that it doesn’t cause eye problems and neck pain and back problems and headaches (and bad air, sitting in traffic, etc). Humans weren’t designed for modern society and the fast-paced crap diet, the way we’ve built them up. We need our daily habits to include attention to our own bodies and health. A few conclusions are certain: 1) no individual could do that all alone, all at once, and 2) it takes a lot of time and money to do. The best food is way too expensive. Why don’t more employers allow flex time for exercise, telecommuting, or ingenious ways to incorporate exercise, real-health-focus, or relaxation into the job? I’m not talking mandatory, I’m talking real-time feedback and continuous improvement, beyond shooting emails at each other–innovation based upon the mutually beneficial desire to keep us all free of disease and away from miscellaneous malfunctions.

how about imagery associated with “the gardening anarchist” and instead of pulling guns out of the soil, pulling pens and gavels and loaves of bread out of the soil. kind of a play on the latest commercial craze where 7up cans grow on trees and corn kernels pop into cars. these commercials piss me off to no end.

The growing strain of special education services on public schools.
Under federal law, public schools are required to provide a free and appropriate public education to all children. I have firsthand knowledge of children being provided with therapeutic horseback riding programs, personal fitness trainers, music therapy classes, $12K communication systems, $52K/year tuitions to specialized private autism programs, the list goes on – all on the taxpayer dime, and all because parents are willing to sue the school district into submission over what constitutes a free and appropriate public education for their child with special needs.
Should there be clear, enforceable limits on what public schools are required to provide for children with special needs? Should school districts be paying for exorbitantly expensive and elaborate activities and experiences for children in the special education program when most students do not have access to these activities and experiences as part of a typical public education? How much of this burden should be transferred to the individual/family, and to the healthcare system? If no limits will be set, will the federal government fund special education accordingly?

I read a story the other day about bio-plastics made from corn or other biological shit that makes the plastic biodegradable. It doesn’t use oil so that’s also good. Turns out that it doesn’t break down so easily and when it does it releases assloads of methane, which is 23 times more dangerous than CO2 in terms trapping heat. Moreover, most consumers using it didn’t know it was bio-plastic and put it in with the rest of the recyclables. But when this stuff mixes with regular, oil based plastics the whole batch has to be tossed as it ruins it.
So where am I going with this? I just get the feeling that no matter what we do we’re fucked.

Society protecting the stupid and lazy and not allowing natural selection run it’s course which allows these fucktards to roam free.
That and the state of our political system, the media, global warming, war, terrorism and the fact the Wild lost in the playoffs. All very irritating.

“I’m not a feminist but…” when did feminism become a dirty word?
Close to 50 MILLION people in this country have no health insurance – how ridiculous is that?
High fructose corn syrup sucks, and it’s everywhere.
The more we process our food the cheaper it becomes. How does that work?
